Huntington Beach Union High School Board Policy 6145.2 states students shall have a medical clearance before participating in interscholastic athletic programs.

Article 50, Rule 503 of the CIF Southern Section Blue Book states:

As a condition of membership, schools will require that a student receive an annual physical examination conducted by a medical practitioner certifying that the student is physically fit to participate in athletics.  The report of the examination will be on a school board-approved form

that includes a health history. The physical examination must be completed before a student may try out, practice or participate in interscholastic

athletic competition

Therefore, the Huntington Beach Union High School District shall require a student to complete an athletic physical examination before trying out for any sport on their campus.

Your school may offer a “Athletic Physical Day,” where students receive athletic physicals on campus for a nominal fee.

Please see your athletic director or coach regarding the date at time of  the Athletic Physical Day at your school.

Fall 2020 Athletic Schedule Update:
As the school year progresses, we will await further guidance from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), California Department of Education (CDE), and the Orange County Healthcare Agency, HBUHSD with guidance from OCHCA to determine phase levels. All sports at this time are permitted to participate in conditioning activities as long as they adhere to the phased approach outlined in the flier below prior to resuming a full physical return to athletics.
