Letters of Recommendation

If you plan to apply to private universities, you will most likely need a counselor letter of recommendation. Guidance Specialists do NOT write letters of recommendation - Ms. Sabol will write these letters. The CSU's and UC's do NOT need either unless requested by the university.

Ask your teacher at least one month before your first deadline.
If your teacher agrees, ask them what they may need to complete the LOR.
What’s usually helpful to provide:

- College list with deadlines and intended major(s)

- Resume or brag sheet

- Short written reflection of your experience in the class
Go to Common App or Coalition App and invite your teacher as your “recommender.” Don’t know how? Watch here.
WAIVE your FERPA right! Waiving your right tells colleges you do not intend to read your recommendation letters later on.
