Visual Art: Drawing and Painting:

 

The Drawing and Painting program at Edison High School strives to educate students in visual literacy and develop technical artistic skills through participation in the creative process. The sequence of courses is designed to inspire, support, and develop artistic expression and understanding by exploring a sequence of courses to evoke appreciation, understanding, and engagement in the arts or as preparation to pursue a college program or career in art.

 

ART 1

Explore and use the Elements and Principles of Art to develop visual literacy and become confident in their artistic ability and understanding of art.

 

ART 2

Explore a variety of artistic mediums and discuss artistic ideas through reflection and critique.

 

ART 3/4

Refine your visual art skills and develop an area of concentrated interest in subject and medium.

 

STUDIO ART

Continue to develop and grow in the concept and execution of your personal artistic style while refining and developing skills in a variety of mediums.

 

AP STUDIO ART: Drawing

Develop a series of artworks demonstrating an investigation of strong visual ideas, composition, and execution of drawing. Participate in weekly critiques and a keep visual diary of ideas.
