Principal's Message

Jennifer Graves
Principal, Edison High School
My name is Jennifer Graves and I am honored to be your Principal at Edison High School.

Edison runs deep in Tradition and Pride. Our main focus is to prepare students for the 21st Century. Our Vision: C is for Charger stands for what we expect all students to be prepared for when they graduate from EHS. Our students will be great Communicators, Critical Thinkers, Collaborators, and Creative individuals. We offer a wide range of opportunities to allow students to “Get Connected.” Studies show the more connected and involved students are in high school the more successful they will be. We encourage students to challenge themselves, whether that be through our outstanding Honors and/or (20) Advanced Placement courses, or through one or more of our amazing academic pathways and programs:

Our CIBACS (Center for International Business and Communication Studies) pathway, prepares students for Business and Entrepreneurships through challenging courses in English and Social Studies. CIBACS also has many outside partnerships with such companies as, Simple Green, Volcom, Kiehls, and Wahoo Fish Tacos. Many students return after college stating that CIBACS prepared them for the business world more than any course they took during their time in college.

Our award winning MUN (Model United Nations), program is a great opportunity for those students who are interested in International Studies and World Relations. Our students compete not only among schools in Southern California, but travel nationwide and internationally to compete. This program is part of our Social Studies department.

Our newest academic pathway, ASE (Academy for Sustainability and Engineering), is a collaboration between our Math and Science departments. Students have the opportunity to work in our new innovation lab that specializes in Aquaculture, Aquaponics, and Robotics. We even have a Three D printer where students can create objects they design themselves. We have partnered with local businesses and colleges to prepare our students in the field of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

We also offer two CTE (Career Technical Educational) pathways in the areas of Cinematic Arts and Culinary Arts. In Cinematic Arts our students are using the latest HD equipment for filming along with top of the line computers for editing. Not only do they create the video yearbook for each student, they are a huge part of assemblies, promotional videos and they put together our Bi-Weekly Bolt TV episodes. Our Culinary Arts pathway allows our students an opportunity to receive a Safe Serve Certificate that places our students a step ahead when entering any College or Career in the area of Restaurant and Hospitality Management.

In addition to our general education pathways, Edison is very proud of our SAC (Special Abilities Cluster) program. This is a comprehensive, integrated program that meets the needs of over 200 students with developmental disabilities. Our students have the opportunity to participate in many school activities such as SAC Pepsters (who cheer in assemblies, football and Basketball games), Best Buddies club, United Sports an integrated program through Special Olympics, all school dances along with much more.

Edison’s co-curricular programs in Athletics, Fine and Performing Arts and Leadership are second to none. Our Athletics program enrolls over half of our student body and is known to be one of the top programs in all of Southern California. Our Cheer and Song squad won the USA Nationals in 2015. Edison’s award winning Performing Arts; Band, Color Guard and Choir and Music Industry groups are getting bigger and better and will be ready for competition this coming fall. Our Visual Arts of Ceramics, and Drawing and Painting, continue to win the majority of awards at our district’s Art Fair. In addition, our art classes have expanded to challenge those talented individuals who wish to submit a portfolio to College Board for AP credit. Lastly, we want to remind you to join one or more of our 50 clubs along with applying to be in Leadership, Charger Connections or our Yearbook staff.

There is something for everyone here at Edison we have a lot to be proud of, but what makes us truly special is that all students are accepted and respected for who they are. We embrace social independence and celebrate each student’s individuality. We want our students to feel welcome and know they are safe and secure. We trust that these four years at Edison will be memories your student will cherish for the rest of their life.

Let’s make this year the best ever! Go Chargers!
