October 2009 - Census Forms
Census Forms are distributed to feeder schools by Edison High School Guidance staff.  This is a one-sided form that students are asked to fill out through their 8th grade classes. The eighth grade school office manager collects them and coordinates with Edison staff to return the completed forms. Parents very rarely see this form.  The purpose of this form is to double check demographic information that is uploaded from the 8th grade public schools into HBUHSD school software system.  Students from private schools are entered as well. All students receive their official High School Identification Number (ID#), and families will receive important mailings beginning in January.  Schools we send forms to include:  Sowers, Sts Simon and Jude, Christ Lutheran, Pegasus, Brethern Christian. Other HBUHSD’ schools send out forms to the remaining feeder schools.

January 2010 - 8th Grade Newsletter
The 8th Grade Newsletter will be mailed from the HBUHSD.  This newsletter details Honors placement testing, Honors class Information and Pre-registration information nights for all high schools.  It is important to attend the high school that your son or daughter will be attending, as each high school has different programs to offer for ninth graders.

February 2-13, 2010 - Open Enrollment (School of Choice opportunity)
In February all enrolled families within the HBUHSD and incoming 9th grade families who filled out a census in October of 2009 and live in the HBUHSD attendance area, will receive a letter explaining “Open Enrollment” which allows students to apply to enroll in any HBUHSD school they choose.  As long as all forms are filled our properly and deadlines are met, students will most likely be able to attend their school of choice for the following school year.  This process concludes in March so that by April all students can receive information about the school they will attend the following school year. Click HERE for the latest information for open enrollment.
